IBR Staff Writer Published 12 July 2011

XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Group, has established a new railroad underwriting team.

XL said that Denise DePrimo will serve as senior vice president and head up the new unit's casualty underwriting operations in New York, while Michael Margiotta will serve as vice president in XL's Baltimore office.

DePrimo will report to Roxanne Mitchell, president of XL Insurance's Excess & Surplus unit.

DePrimo will join XL Insurance from Zurich North America, where she led the company's railroads underwriting team.

Previously, Margiotta was vice president in Maryland-based Zurich's railroad unit. His professional experience includes positions with AON Risk Services as a broker for its railroad practice.
